![]() ![]() ![]() Here is a description of my successes, failures and tips I have learned along the way. I am happy with what I figured out and learned through my own trials and errors, but if you want to skip that learning curve, Katherine is really good at Factorio. If you are wanting to kill your first play-through with an awesome mega-base, I would suggest watching her series on YouTube before getting started. Since finishing my win condition play-through I have started watching KatherineofSky on YouTube and I can promise you my base was not set up to be a mega base or mass produce beyond a single rocket launch. You MUST make a satellite and launch it with the rocket in order to have the launch fulfill the win condition. It was good that I did because I thought all I had to do was launch a rocket, and that’s not true. One thing I specifically looked up was the win condition for Factorio. I tried to stay completely blind, but I can happily say that I have still avoided all YouTube walk-throughs, which are basically spoilers for for survival/crafting games. I soon discovered that I wasn’t going to be able to figure everything out on my own and found myself on a few Reddit threads. I didn’t realize how under prepared I was. I set out to conquer the world of automation without any help from guides or YouTube tutorials in hopes of learning and adjusting to the conditions on my own. Hell, I’ve been playing way too much for the last few weeks and I’m still not sure that I have a strong grasp on how to properly play the game. When I decided to sit down and couple of weeks ago to try my hand at the game on my own I wasn’t prepared for the amount of false starts and blatant ignorance I had of the game mechanics and goals. I had played Factorio a couple of years ago for a few hours here and there with a more seasoned player and must confess, most of that time was me running around killing bitters and repairing walls while he actually played the game, I learned nothing except spitters suck, no innuendo intended. ![]()
